I could list all the things I like about this....

....like the colours, the highlighting, the shading, the pose, the facial expression or the background. But that would go to far, it looks simply great.

The only thing that bothers me, is that the floor is on a different angle than the water spot beneath the creature. At least judging from the ring of waves.

TurkeyOnAStick responds:

Yeah it is! :( The ring of waves was a bother to make, and I think it disrupts thepicture more than it adds to it.

Style

I repeat myself, but you manage to give your pics a great style everytime. This for exapmle could be used for some kind of advertising campaign instantly, because it has a great recognition value.

Also when I saw this piece I instantly thought about Zeno's arrow paradox "the flying arrow is motionless."

Only downturns seem to be the tailfeathers and the background as already mentioned.

J-qb responds:

Thanks, I always try to put some style aspects in my drawings, so its good to know it works. Because water is such a fluent ever moving thing (heraclites) I wanted to capture that for this flood thing. I am quite glad with how that turned out myself too.

That's hilarious ^^

It's really funny. I'm a fan of details and this one holds many funny things for me.

The little beans peeking out of the can and one sitting on the toilet made me really laugh. It would be great if the pic was just a little bigger so one could see them in more details, but still they are great.

Those popped out eyes on the can look cool, too.

The only real problem is, what has been said already. The mixture of softness here and sharpness there can be quite confusing. Good thind this is a crazy pic, so it's not a serious issue in that case.

And I must agree, a background would have been a good idea. But not too much, because there's pretty much going on in this pic already. ^^

It kinda reminds me of one of those matryoshka puppets. You know? Those female russian puppets which you open and find another, smaller one inside and then another and another... only that this a bean with a bean can on it and a bean on that. :P

ZaneZansorrow responds:

Thank you :3, I still gotta remember to save a bigger size ;rq

Hmmm, I still must remember to put up a better direction between sharpness and softness.

Carved in stone style

It looks like a crazy graffiti with parts of it carved into the stone and parts drawn on it.

I love the dynamic of the flying beans and the plate. You gave the biggest, closest bean in particular a perfect angle to make it look like it's about to pop out of the pic any moment. You drew the beans pretty good anyway.

The face however looks too hard and sharp-edged to me. The hair and ear both seem fine though.

The hand may be a little too big, even for the desired angle, but it looks good apart from that.

The body doesn't look good to me. On the boys' left shoulder there's sharp edge and the rest isn't detailed. It looks as if he does not wear a shirt, but if you would have added some sleeves and some kind of "neckline", the rest would look like a loose shirt. On the other hand, the shading (armpit, neck, etc.) looks good.

But yet again, you used another cool and unique style for it. I don't know how to name it, because monchrome is not a sufficient description. But it definitely looks interesting to me.

J-qb responds:

thanks for the review!

That's hilarious

What a dark outcome of a happy day. It's also nice how you included the icon. And yeah I really like the lower back tattoo.

Funny

Yeah the facial expression is really funny and I like how evil the cat threatens the mouse. I would just have loved to see this coloured and shaded. Would be even better, I guess. So far it's up to our imagination, that this cat is black.... but at least it works. ^^

ZaneZansorrow responds:

Right on!

Great one....

I like the annoyed or frustrated look on his face. The gun feels really heavy and looks funny compared to his skinny body. Nice job on the little details, like the cans, the dog tags or the little mischievous cat.

It would actually be very interesting to see more units in this style.

Lintire responds:

I suppose you could always think of it as a modern-day Cloud but yeah, wasn't really thinking of practical weight ratios at the time of conception - sort of a 3 ounce swallow carrying a 5 pound coconut, right?

And yeah, I always like to chuck in little details and seeing more units in this style would be interesting. I've yet to pinpoint that I really have a style as of yet.

Didn't see that coming

Good to see BizarroJoe supporting our cause. The pic is great of course, it is really interesting how you drew that cat. And it just looks as if the cat wants to get away. I like the frame and how you included our silly icon.

Is there anything I can say about the girl? Nothing that has not been said about your girls over and over again. Good job!

BizarroJoe responds:

I want to get the hang of adapting animals to fit into my style and introducing them into my submissions. Cats are domestic, flexible animals which fit nicely into the imagery of any "girly" artist. And they're beautiful to watch, too. I like cats. :3 They give plenty of room for an artist to toy with.
Probably, the animal I'd want most to get confident with now, is the horse.
Thanks for commenting, Luwe! (Luwe? I don't know if that's sounds right...)

Art noir-ish....

I really like this one. the stencil like background and texture on his clothes are a nice adaption from modern art. The cat itself look like taken out of an art noir comic strip. The limited number of colours (black, white and greys) and high contrast add to that effect. Really great job!

J-qb responds:

Thanks, good to know I acheived my goals for this one.

That's just great

I like how you "translated" Lion-o into the friday flood topic, with the pale skin and black instead of red hair. And after seeing the WIP before, you still managed to surprise me with the beheaded sidekick, good job. What more can I say?

AwesomeSaurus responds:

Haha thanks Luwano!!

Remember: Still waters run wet.
